How it works
From your first email to the domain in your account
Most domain acquisitions follow the same path. Here is what happens after your first email, what we need from you at each stage, and where the time usually goes.
The process in detail
Briefing
You tell us the name you are after and what you plan to do with it. If a second or third choice would also work, that is worth saying now — it often gives the negotiation somewhere to go.
We tell you straight away whether the name looks realistically obtainable, and what a name of that kind tends to cost.
What we need: the domain, the intended use, a budget range if you have one.Research
We establish who actually controls the name. Registration data is often outdated, hidden behind privacy services or held by a company that no longer exists in that form, so the registered contact and the person who can decide on a sale are not always the same.
At the same time we look at comparable sales, so the offer we make later is anchored in what similar names have actually changed hands for.
Discreet approach
We contact the owner as a broker acting for a client. Your name, your company and the reason you want the domain stay out of that first conversation unless there is a good reason to disclose them.
Many owners have never thought about selling. The first exchange is often less about price than about whether a sale is on the table at all.
Negotiation
We negotiate price and terms on your behalf and report back at every meaningful step. You set the ceiling; nothing is offered or agreed above it without your say-so.
Where it helps, we structure the deal rather than just raise the number — instalments, a defined transfer date, or a package if more than one name is involved.
From a few days to several weeks, depending on the owner.Agreement and secure transfer
Once both sides agree, the purchase is put in writing and the payment runs through an escrow service such as Escrow.com, escrow.domains or Sedo.com. The money is only released once the domain has moved.
We coordinate the transfer into your registrar account and stay involved until the name is verifiably yours.
Why use a broker
Who is asking changes the price.
Contacting a domain owner directly can decide the negotiation before it starts. As soon as the owner knows which company or brand is interested, that knowledge tends to end up in the asking price.
We act as an independent intermediary. Your identity can stay confidential while we establish whether the owner is willing to sell at all, on what terms, and at what price.
